ASSISTANT CONTAINER PLANT HEALTH MANAGERPosted 8/23/16

Robinson Nursery, Inc., located in McMinnville, Oregon, is seeking an individual to assist our Container Plant Health Manager to oversee plant health in the container division.

This person will ensure we use the spraying equipment correctly. Will assist with agricultural pesticide training as well as any PPE required for chemical handlers. Work with vendors and extension agents to find solutions to plant health issues. Assist Safety Manager to maintain a safe work environment and comply with state and federal Pesticide Regulations.

Must have 5 years of Plant Health experience in the nursery industry or a degree in Horticulture. This position will require a driver's license and fluency in both English and Spanish. Patterson Nursery Sales is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to assist in running all aspects of its container operations. Must be results oriented, self-motivated and possess strong management, organizational and communication skills. This position requires a strong background in all phases of container production and an overall working knowledge of woody ornamentals with an emphasis on conifers. Candidates should have a minimum of four years' experience with a proven ability to supervise and execute all production operations.

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge and skills required:
- Implement and maintain water management strategies for container inventories of diverse sizes and genus.
- Fertility monitoring in specific crops as well as the timing of applications.
- Be familiar with chemigation practices by injection.
- Implement a comprehensive approach to pest and disease control.
- Plant maintenance tasks to be scheduled, including, but not limited to: pruning, weed control procedures, environment spacing with an understanding of the various techniques as to type of crop.
- Ability to read and write English. Spanish speaking desirable.
