Nursery Internship Programs
Welcome to the OAN Internship Bank!
The internship process is an important step when starting a career. Not only will you create key contacts in the industry, but it is also a true chance to experience a realistic picture of the horticulture industry.
If you are an OAN member and your nursery offers an internship program that is not listed on our Web site, contact Aimee McAuliffe, Manager of Member Programs & Education, at (503) 682-5089 or by e-mail.
If you would like tips on improving or starting an internship program, a good place to start is the Clackamas Community College Cooperative Work Experience home page.

OSU North Willamette Research & Extension Center, Aurora, Oregon
The North Willamette Research and Extension Center provides internships to students wishing to expand their ability to conduct research in nursery crop production. The emphasis is on problem solving, applied research, and communication. By visiting nurseries and attending nursery meetings, students learn the common problems and challenges facing the nursery industry. Applied research experiments are designed at NWREC and at cooperating nurseries. Students practice problem solving through research and experimentation then practice communication skills to deliver the information they've learned to the nursery industry. Each intern conducts his or her own research project, and helps on many more. Students typically work 20 to 40 hours per week. Pay is based on experience.

Wet Rock Gardens, Springfield, Oregon
Wet Rock Gardens is looking for self-motivated people interested in an informal hands-on-learning experience on our 10 acre flower farm. We sell some live plant material, however, our current emphasis is cut- flowers at our farm (U-Pick) and at the Saturday Farmer's Market in Eugene. Wet Rock is more like a big display garden than a traditional row-crop'n farm. Volunteers can choose to emphasize horticulture, marketing, maintenance or constructing gardens (working with rocks and blocks). We accept people of any experience level and have almost no cash available as pay. We usually can offer food, a place to sleep/eat/etc. and "camping out" is popular (seasonally).
For more information visit www.wetrock.com or contact Mr. Kelly O'Neill via gardens@wetrock.com or phone at (541)521-8898 (3pm -10pm)
