Make a strong visual impression Posted 3/20/13

As an OAN member you automatically get a free profile page on www.NurseryGuide.com. But did you know you can add your logo (or main image) and up to 10 gallery images to it? It's a great way to promote your brand and showcase your most important products. Here's how. First log in at www.NurseryGuide.com (email nurseryguide@oan.org if you need help with your login information). Click on the Images tab (located between the Profile and Contact Information tabs at the top of the page). For your main image or logo, click Browse, select your image and upload. To add gallery images, click Add. From here, you can choose your photo file and click Submit. Photos are automatically resized. Save the changes to your profile by clicking Save. [Read more]

Share your inventory availability with interested buyers Posted 3/28/13

One of the key features that sets www.NurseryGuide.com apart from other plant search sites is the ability to post up to four availability lists: on the Nursery Guide home page, Plant Detail pages, Member Detail page, or when Google is used to find a plant. Here's how to do it. To post availabilities while logged in to Nursery Guide, click on the Edit tab, which takes you to the information on your Profile page. Scroll down to Availability for This Business and select Add to upload your availability list files. Scroll down to Save. Interested buyers can then download your nursery's availability list(s). Remember to regularly update your availability lists once you have posted them on Nursery Guide!

Descriptions add personality, searchability to your profilePosted 4/3/13

As an OAN member you automatically get a free profile page on NurseryGuide.com. But did you know you can easily add a company description to it? This is a great way to let your personality shine through, share information about your business, and list items in which you specialize. There is a direct SEO (search engine optimization) bonus as well: both the web in general and NurseryGuide.com specifically rely on Google search. Having extra information — and keywords that describe your business — in your description will help you get found. To add a description about your company, click on the Edit tab (between View and Manage Display) on your profile page. Scroll down to the Description text window near the bottom of the page. Type, or cut and paste your description, and click Save.

To be included in the 2013-14 print Nursery Guide book, all listings must be submitted and paid for by May 1. Log on to NurseryGuide.com and submit your listings today.

OAN member nurseries and brokers can post and view partial loads on the online Nursery Guide Partial Load forum. [Note: The Partial Load forum replaces Loadview.com.] Access is available only to OAN members.

In the body, include the following information: Zip code, City, State, Footage, Timing of the load, Palletized or Floorstacked, Container, B&B, etc.; Contact information: Name, Nursery, Email and/or Phone. Renew your Nursery Guide listings onlinePosted 4/18/13

Thousands of buyers use Nursery Guide and visit NurseryGuide.com to locate suppliers. This year, submitting your listings is online and easier than ever. Just log in to www.NurseryGuide.com and click on the My Listings link at the top of the page. Click Edit to make changes to your listings.

If you want to keep the same listings as last year, simply pay for them and they will carry forward automatically through May 1, 2014. You can pay for your listings online, too; look for the About the OAN tab and click on Get in the Guide. If you haven't logged on to NurseryGuide.com, have forgotten your password or have questions about the process, call the OAN office (503-682-5089 or 1-800-342-6401).

Photos are worth a thousand wordsPosted 5/29/13

Adding one of your photos to a plant profile on www.NurseryGuide.com is a great opportunity to market your company. Every plant has its own library of images, and each image is watermarked with the name of the nursery/person providing the photo. Just email your photo to Ann Murphy at amurphy@oan.org with the name of the plant in the photo filename. She will post it on the website as quickly as possible. If you have questions, give the OAN office a call at 503-682-5089.

Manage your listingsPosted 6/26/13

The new online Nursery Guide lets you change your listings as often as you want. Change your plant listings with the seasons, to emphasize a new plant to your inventory, or when you add a new plant to production. Simply log into www.NurseryGuide.com and click on My Listings. From there you have two options: (1) delete a listing, then add new ones up to your listings total; or (2) buy more listings. To buy more listings, contact the OAN office at 503-682-5089.

Adding a new plant listingPosted 7/3/13

If you are adding a new plant into production, or want to add a plant that currently is not in the OAN's Nursery Guide, log into www.NurseryGuide.com and click on My Listings. At the top of the page, you'll be queried: Can't find the plant you're looking for? "Request a plant" not already in our database. Submit the plant name and any plant characteristic information you know on the form. The OAN will verify the name and notify you when the plant name is ready to be listed.

Search functionPosted 7/11/13

The online Nursery Guide search function is powered by Google and search filters. If a query is made using the Custom Search box found in the upper left corner of each page on the site, Google searches the site for plant and company information based on the query. The results are based on Google algorithms, which in turn, are driven by relevance to the query. As with doing a search on Google, sometimes the results aren't what we expect. But, odds of being on the top of the list improve based on the information you include on your profile, e.g., key words in your company description and including an availability list.

Another way to find information on the site is to use the filters that you'll find by clicking on the Find Plant or Find Company Page > Find Member Companies. Results will be narrowed based on the filters selected.

Adding plant photosPosted 7/18/13

Log on to www.NurseryGuide.com and go to your profile page. Take a look at the plants that don't have photos, or are accompanied by photos that aren't as good as the ones you have for the plant, or perhaps your photos show a different attribute of the plants. Multiple photos can be included for each plant. We want pictures that show it in the landscape, in a nursery environment, and close-ups of what makes the plant special, e.g., leaves or needles, flowers or bark. Email your photo to amurphy@oan.org. She'll let you know if we use the photos. If we do, it will be watermarked to give credit to your nursery.
