Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Our Container Production Manager will:

  • Have proven experience in management & container nursery production.
  • Have a minimum 2-year degree in an Ag Sciences or business field or equivalent work experience.
  • Have strong leadership skills to train & motivate a workforce of up to 125 employees.
  • Have the ability to manage production cycles & cultural practices to accurately hit sales target windows.
  • Create and monitor departmental capital & expense budgets.
  • Track appropriate departmental metrics.
  • Have the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the company. Must collaborate with other divisions & departments, including inventory, plant health, human resources, shop, water manager, sales, bareroot, propagation.
  • Incorporate Lean flow & a manufacturing outlook into the farm's culture.
  • Be able to analyze our systems & processes, looking to continuously improve efficiency.
  • Have a valid Oregon driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • Have computer literacy including Word, Excel, Power Point and internal reporting.
  • Spanish language skills desired but not required.

Lead direction is received from the Senior Horticulturist. Overall supervision is received from the Horticulture Supervisor.

Horticultural or agricultural experience and an Oregon Certified Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to acquire) preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish a plus.

This position will require the ability to learn and understand the functions of the transplant equipment (flat fillers, automated transplanters, dibblers, water tunnels, buffer belts) and acquire the knowledge to troubleshoot basic maintenance needs and assist machine operators in diagnostics and development of a TPM program.
