Questions and Answers about the Santa’s Shipping Season Special
What’s this about free listings on NurseryGuide.com?
You read right. We’re offering five months of free online listings to OAN members who renew their membership by Dec. 15, 2010. The listings will appear online from Feb. 1 to July 31, 2011. It’s our way of saying thanks for your continuing support.
You’re sure there’s no cost? No strings attached?
Correct. We’re giving you free listings at no cost and with no strings attached — other than your renewal by Dec. 15.
Why are you doing this?
In addition to thanking you for your support of OAN, we’re trying to turn more people on to the Nursery Guide. If you aren’t listing plants, products or services in the Nursery Guide now, we want you to try it out. And if you’re already listing, we want you to list more stuff. We figured free online listings would kind of get your attention.
Don’t you normally wait until the summer to update Nursery Guide online?
Correct. But we’re going to make a special update to the website on Feb. 1, 2011 with all the free listings we’re giving away right now. All you have to do is renew your membership and submit your listings by Dec. 15.
What about the next printed Nursery Guide? Will my free listings go in there, too?
No. The printed Nursery Guide comes out in the summer each year, right before the Farwest Show, around August 1. Your free listings will go on the website for five months, from Feb. 1-July 31, 2011, but not in the book.
Are there any restrictions on this offer?
The offer is limited to plants, services and supplies that were included in the 2011 book. We’re not able to accommodate new varieties (e.g. things no one has ever listed before) in this offer. For those, you’ll have to wait and submit them for the 2012 book.
When can I submit listings for the next printed book?
After the first of the year you will be invited to submit listings for the 2012 Nursery Guide. These cost $4.35 for members and $15 for non-members. These listings will appear in 2012 edition, which will be published next summer. They will also appear online for a full year, starting Aug. 1, 2011. The exposure you get for the price is unbeatable.
When I submit listings for the 2012 printed book, will I be able to renew the free listings I’m submitting right now?
Of course. As a member, you’ll pay just $4.35 per listing. You can renew your 2011 paid listings, as well as the free online listings claimed right now under the Santa Shipping Season Special. You can also add, drop or edit any listings you choose.
What about the stuff I submitted last spring? What happens to that?
Nothing. Those listings were published in the 2011 book, which came out last summer, and were placed online last August. They will remain online until this coming July, regardless of whether or not you take advantage of this offer.
So, in other words, this offer is a chance to put additional listings online at no cost for a limited time period, and all I have to do is renew my membership by Dec. 15.
In my membership renewal packet, you gave me a list of my current listings. Why did you do that?
For reference, so you can see what you are already doing in Nursery Guide.
Do I need to modify or change those listings in any way?
No. Your 2011 listings, which you ordered last spring, are still good until July 31, 2011, and will remain online until then.
Can I change my listings? For example, we no longer sell [name of plant or product here].
Sure. We can update that information if you like, and we can even delete the listing if it no longer applies. It’ll still be in the book, but will no longer appear online. Just let us know. Just be aware, if you submit these changes now, they only apply until July 31, 2011. They won’t go in the 2012 book unless and until you submit them for the 2012 book. We’ll be accepting listings for the 2012 book after the first of the year.
Did Jeff mind getting in that Santa suit to pose for the flier?
No, he was actually a pretty good sport about it.
