Stone to testify before Congress
OAN Executive Director Jeff Stone has been invited to testify next Tuesday, April 29, before the U.S. House Committee on Agriculture's Subcommittee on Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture. Stone will be speaking on behalf of the nursery industry regarding pollinator health and possible federal regulation of neonicotinoids.
Stone plans to highlight the collaborative and scientific approach that Oregon adopted in the wake of two highly publicized bee kills last year. "Oregon House Bill 4139 could have taken a negative approach, pitting interest group against interest group — but that did not happen," Stone will state in his prepared testimony. "Instead, stakeholders listened to one another and determined that a science-based approach to pollinator health would lead to a better solution."
