The first half of December saw sub-freezing temps and icy conditions across many parts of the Pacific Northwest. Current weather forecasts predict possibly another Arctic blast around the New Year. If you suffer damage as a result of the cold weather, please call the OAN office at 503-682-5089 (800-342-6401 toll-free) or email Jeff Stone, executive director, at email@example.com. We will be compiling this information for possible use in our advocacy efforts.

EPA imposes new regulations for small boilers
All small boilers that use oil, coal or biomass for fuel must comply with new area source emission rules and file appropriate documentation with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by January 21, 2014 — the first deadline of potentially several compliance filings. To help operators comply with the new regulations, Regulation Week held a series of informational conferences in December and recorded them. You can purchase a digital recording of the conference for listening at your convenience.

The disease, caused by the fungus Geosmithia morbida, is transmitted by the walnut twig beetle (Pityophthorus juglandis), which was also identified from insects emerging from sampled twigs.
