The Chemeketa Community College Ag Program, and the Economic Development Coordinator for Marion County, are studying the future of agriculture in Oregon. This includes looking at the factors driving innovation in the agricultural value chain, and future educational needs for workforce development.

As part of this project, the partners are asking agricultural producers and other stakeholders to complete a short, 4-minute survey and provide their input. Producers may fill out the survey anonymously, or they may provide name and contact information when prompted.

Based on overall survey results, the partners may then create workforce development initiatives and economic development programs to meet future needs. Such programs may be funded using Oregon Lottery proceeds that have been designated for economic development.

Nurseries are the largest sector in Oregon agriculture, and Marion County has long been the top county in the state for nursery production. The OAN encourages growers and others to complete this survey and ensure adequate nursery industry input to help guide the future direction of Chemeketa’s ag program. » Take the survey
