Nursery Research

Mission of the OAN Research Committee

Identify, prioritize and communicate the research needs of our industry to encourage the research community to address these needs. Support and develop funding methods for worthy projects.

Research Priorities

The committee conducts a survey of OAN members to determine the research needs of the industry. We are working to update the list of priorities and would love to hear from you. Please contact your OAN Board of Directors representative for your industry segment to give your input.

Funding Sources

Research grants are awarded annually through a cooperation between the Oregon Department of Agriculture (ODA) Nursery Research and Regulatory Advisory Committee and the Oregon Association of Nurseries. Financial support is provided through a research assessment included as part of ODA's annual nursery license fee.

The OAN administers a fund set up to provide grants for shade tree disease reseach. The Shade Tree Disease Fund monies come entirely from individual and corporate donations; 100% of the money contributed goes to support qualifying research projects.

The Growing Knowledge series features articles relevant to nursery production that is written by Oregon State University and USDA researchers and others. Many of the articles include information from studies funded by Oregon nursery research dollars.
